“I feel blessed to have a son like Sachin” says Lata Mangeshkar
The Queen of melody Lata Mangeshkar has said that she felt blessed to have a son like the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and wants the 37-year old cricketer to keep playing cricket for many more years to come. She also prayed that he would be able to win
the Bharat Ratna for his services to India. Congratulating one of the greatest batsmen of modern times, Lata said that she has always been his avid fan and follower. She went on to say that her blessing would always be with him.
"Sachin treats me like his mother and I always pray for him like a mother. I can never forget the day when he called me 'aai' (mother) for the first time. I had never imagined that. It was pleasant surprise for me and I feel blessed to have a son like him.
I always pray for his success and well being. My blessings are always with him," Lata said while talking to reporters.
She fondly recalled her memories with the little master, who was once asked what he thought about the queen of melody to which he aptly replied that what could he possibly think about someone who is his mother.
When the Bharat Ratna winner, Lata Mangeshkar, was asked if the greatest civilian award should be given to a cricketer, Lata said, that Sachin most certainly deserved the Bharat Ratna. She said that for her, he has been the Bharat Ratna since he has done
the country proud on more than one occasions in ways that no one else can.
She said that while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 might have produced many cricketers, Sachin remained to be Sachin and there were no mincing words in that. According to the Queen of melody Sachin has been the only one of his generation to be able to achieve what he has.
"He is a perfectionist and very possessive about his work. I am also like that. He is very fond of music and I love cricket. He is a real gentleman and god-fearing person. He never forgets to thank god and his father after any achievement, which is simply
adorable," she says.
Lata said she hoped that Sachin would help India win the 2011 world cup.
