My psychiatrist recently diagnosed me with ptsd and possibily bipolar. I feel overwhelmed to just do little things. Is that normal? Like I just moved and need to get my room in a livable state and I feel like I can't even start doing it. Or just getting showered and dressed some days make me feel like I'm worn out before I even get started.

  1. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur after you have been through a traumatic event. A traumatic event is something horrible and scary that you see or that happens to you. During this type of event, you think that your life or others' lives are in danger. You may feel afraid or feel that you have no control over what is happening.

Anyone who has gone through a life-threatening event can develop PTSD. These events can include:

    Combat or military exposure

    Child sexual or physical abuse

    Terrorist attacks

    Sexual or physical assault

Serious accidents, such as a car wreck.

Natural disasters, such as a fire, tornado, hurricane, flood, or earthquake.

After the event, you may feel scared, confused, or angry. If these feelings don't go away or they get worse, you may have PTSD. These symptoms may disrupt your life, making it hard to continue with your daily activities.

To help it make little goals and do it. Like crumple up a piece of paper and throw it in the trash right now. OK. Good Job! Now punch a pillow 5 times now. Good job. You are doing great. Keep making a goal and doing it. Get someone to make little goals for you and have you do them. Then he has to tell you that you did a great job in doing it. Here are 20 things to do. Crumple up a piece of paper and throw it in the trash. Do that 20 times but each time counts as completing your goal.

  3. Try making a list of things you want to accomplish during your day. Don't make it anything big. Break it up into small tasks. Especially for getting your new room in order. Promise yourself a reward at the end of the day if you accomplish everything on your list. Sometimes it helps to see what you need to do in writing and it gives you a sense of accomplishment when you reach your goal.
