I am depressed a lot. I try to think positive, but I cant and that seems to make it worse =[.Anyway I need help with trying to be more happy.

My confidence is low too, and I really don't want to be this way when school starts again. I want to think positive and be happy.

Should I get medication or are there any other ideas. I don't really want to take medication.

  1. See if you can get some counseling to see what is the source of your depression.  Try to avoid meds if possible, as they have too many side effects.  If it is just short term, it is common.  Everyone gets depressed once in awhile.  I hope that you feel better.  Try to surround yourself with things and thoughts that make you happy.  Good luck

  2. One thing you need to know is that you are just not that important. Of all the people on Earth almost none of them even know who you are. So don't be so concerned about yourself, be concerned about others instead. The phrase 'think positive' is stupid. Who knows how to do that? Instead get out of yourself and think about what you can do for others. As far as low confidence, there is no reason for that. No one is scrutinizing you or watching you closely to see if you are confident or not. They are too concerned about themselves to watch you. Just be yourself. If you make a mistake or do something wrong, who cares? It doesn't really matter what they think anyway. Remember that it's your God given right to be here just like everyone else. Also remember that happiness does come from within. It is a product of what you do for others, your beliefs, and what you do good for yourself.

If you think you may be clinically depressed see a shrink, forget about your family doctor. There are medications that can do wonders for you. Good luck.

  3. If you don't want to take meds then you could try getting a pet. Pets make people feel better sometimes.

You should probably just talk to your doctor and ask them if there's anything better you could do.

  4. Speak to a therapist or counsellor.

Do something that makes you happy, makes you look forward to it everyday. Like a sport, or hanging out with friends. Enjoy all the good things you have now, and try not to think so much about your depression. Stay busy, and focus yourself on a goal.

Therapists help with building confidence, too, I believe.

  5. well before you go about the route into perscription medications for your depression you should try and find deep inside the reason for your depression, then if you can elliminate it, change it or minimize it or just ignore it all together you can get by without it, you could also go to a psychiatrist/therapist/shrink and have them evaluate you and have a consultation and see if you are in need of these meds.

good luck and everyone can be down at different times, many teens feel the same way you do, you're not alone.

also it's how you deal with it and rise to the occasion that shows your true confidence and others will see that strength.
