  1. Your parents may not be affectionate because their parents may not have been affectionate with them when they were growing up so they're just not used to it.  Just know that just because they're not affectionate doesn't mean they don't love and care about you.

What you can do is perhaps go up to your parents and offer hugs instead of waiting for them to do it first. And perhaps start giving them compliments first. They may be uncomfortable with it at first but persist.  Once they get used to it they might really love it and wonder why they hadn't done it sooner.

It is absolutely normal to feel happier getting hugs. I'm sure there must be some research showing people are happier when there is intimacy with their loved ones.

  2. try going to church.

I am not a christian but i think church can be therapeutic and is a great place to for acceptance and support if you are open to their beliefs

  3. Ofcourse it is absolutely normal. Everyone needs to feel loved and at peace with the world and their place in it.

Please google a short piece called Desiderata & read it. It should help you a lot with this right now. With very best wishes. UK

  4. "Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have". that's a line from a poem that comforts me.  Perhaps your parents don't know any other way.  Still , I feel it would be ok to let them know that you need a hug or a pat on the back now and then, and a verbal " I Love you" would be music to your ears.  Nothing wrong with asking.  Is it normal to feel happier when people care ?   You bet!  Humans need stroking just like our pets do -  it's a sign of reassurance and gives comfort .  Please,  ASK and you will receive!
