My throat's got phlegm and it's hard to swallow and I think I have a fever. What disease is it? I'm pretty sure it's bacterial. I wasn't sick before I went to bed but I woke up cause the phlegm was bothering me and I drank lots of water but what now?

What can I do to feel better?(besides going to the doctor. I'm doing that tomorrow but I feel like c**p right now) Orange juice sounds revolting to me right now.

  1. sounds like tonsillitis or strep. Do you have white dots at the back of your throat??

    Try:

-Strepsils (try get the ones, with an anti-septic and/or local anasthetic)

-honey (natural antibiotic and helps lubricate your throat),

-Ice pops with not TOO much sugar, and no ice cream. It'll make your phlegm production worse, as will all dairy products.

-Lots and lots of fluids, especially water. it'll help flush the infection away faster and keep your throat wet.

    -Rest and lots of it.

-a cold damp cloth on your forehead for a fever and on your wrists too if you can.

-they say paracetemol (tylenol, calpol, panadol, etc) works for throat pain. Personally, i dont see much of a difference, but you might, so it's worth a try.

    NO:

    -Dairy

-toast, crackers, crisps/chips, anything crunchy. Soft food instead.

-food with a huge amount of salt.

-breathing through your mouth (if your nose isn't blocked) you need to keep your throat moist.

    Get well soon. =)

  2. I don't know what it is, but the easiest way to tell is by the color of the phlegm.  If its clear its an early sign and probably just the flu. If its yellow it is bacterial and your doctor tomorrow will get you some antibiotics. If its dark green to brown colored it is an infection and possibly pnemonia. The best thing to do if you have a fever is keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get really high, be sure to drink plenty of clear fluids to keep yourself hydrated, and don't "incubate" yourself by laying down under a bunch of blankets causing it to get higher.

  3. Take Advil or tylenol for the fever and aches, take a nice warm bath or shower (steam will break up the phlegm), drink lots of fluids, whatever you can stand, and try a little toast.

  4. try to take some meds and go to sleep

  5. Sounds like you have the beginnings of the flu. Take some medicine for it, maybe Lemsip or something if you have it and then get a lot of rest.
