  1. its  peer pressure. Dont let it get to you. People play different sports for a variety of reasons and the most important reason is that you MUST enjoy it. If you don't like playing a certain sport than you shouldn't be playing it because it can affect your performance. If you enjoy and love soccer than stick with it and vive versa.

You should consider yourself a talented sports person who can play both sports and be proud of it.. A lot of rugby stars especially the backs started out as soccer players in thier early life and soccer drills can be apart of professional rugby team training schedule.  The guys who are doing this to you are just ignorant because they havent experienced soccer enough to appreciate it.

  2. Tell them they're idiots and also point out that in case they hadn't noticed, you're playing rugby as well. Also point out to them that it's even tougher on your body to play two sports at the same time.

  3. why would they care because you are playing rugby aswell so they cant say anything about you!!!! if they do well why would a coward play rugby then!!

  4. It is a c**p sport but it doesn't mean you have to hide that you're playing it. If anyone asks do you play soccer tell them you do and if they say anything back tell them to **** off.

There were a few people that played soccer on my rugby team but they gave it up as they wanted to focus on rugby, nobody said anything to them.

  5. thats c**p dude, rugby used to BE soccer.  I've played rugby my whole life and even I know that soccer is the most skilful game on the planet - It keeps you in shape and teaches you all kinds of skills that are valuable in rugby.

If they give you h**l, remind them that Jonny Wilkinson, Grant Fox, Stephen Larkham and Brian O'Driscoull all played soccer for a big part of their lives.  The All Blacks play soccer at training the day after a test for low impact fitness and evasion skills.

  6. not at all, being athletic isnt something to be ashamed of, although i would never play soccer i think its great when soccer players join my team, cuz we always need to speed, as long as you prove yourself on the field and show your team that you have the balls to play rugby, then you should have nothing to worry about

and if the coach treats you differently, then you dont need to be around a coach who cant accept other players, but i have a feeling after playing rugby more intensly soccer will fade away fast... trust me haha

  7. Hey bro, if this is a problem for your team mates it's probably more a reflection on them than it is on you. They may be being a bit precious about their sport and wanting everyone to acknowledge their sport as number one. I've played rugby and league all my life and most times this has been an issue was when i was a teenager and most time's they're just throw away comments when people are trying to show how tough they are. I've always enjoyed soccer as a fan and a player and often played it for extra fitness while still playing both rugby and/ or league. It's also good for developing differn't skills that can be useful in rugby such as speed work, fitness and kicking. So bro if you enjoy both play both and if your team mates are gonna be eggs about it that's their problem and they just need to grow up. Ali Williams (All black lock) played soccer till 17 before he even set foot on a rugby field. Denon Kemp from the broncos is coming to play for the Warriors next year, didn't play league till his senior year at school because he played soccer. And remember if you do your part on the field no one will care what you do in your spare time.

So good luck, play hard and silence the would be critics.

  8. And so you should.

Soccer is for kids whose mums won't let them play rugby on a Saturday LMAO

  9. Mate, I played soccer until I was 16. Started rugby the following year. Yeah I got a bit of stick for it but they soon shut up when we won a game when I kicked a penalty from about 5 m behind halfway and we won the game in the last minute.

If any one has a problem it is them. Dont worry.

  10. ask them if they know what cross training is

  11. Football (I won't stoop to calling it the s-word) helps with evasion, footwork, footballing skills and general fitness.

    Keep playing and ignore them.

  12. Yeah mate i don`t blame them , they probably are scared that you will take your shirt off and jump on them and kiss them on the lips and other places ,if you get a try or a goal.

  13. unfortunately yes, you will be seen differently by some. They're wrong though. Soccer is anything but a sport for weaklings. Tell them to call Eric Cantona that to his face. You'll take it on the chin from some guys in your team but you'll be alright. Suck it up and let your improved skills, fitness, and pace speak for themselves.

  14. As a former rugby player who played basketball at the same time I wouldn't  worry. I found my ball skills were better because of basketball. Plus you can only be called weak if your play weak on the pitch. A couple of big hits and no one can call you soft.
