  1. do not worry, you will do fine, you can do anything you put your mind to, you have already proven this to yourself by getting straight A's

  2. Well, first of all, if you got straight A's in high school and found it easy, you are certainly smart enough for college.  College is not just for geniuses - think of all the stupid adults you've met with college degrees.  You will be just fine.

Secondly, expect that people at colleges realize that many students have no idea of what they really want to do, and they pick something by default.  Most schools have ways of dealing with it.  I'm meeting with our undecided business students on Saturday, and they will be taking a program which includes a little bit of everything for the first year in order to help them decide.  Of course, they will also be taking general education classes, and if they decide on something outside of business, that is okay too.  We realize that it takes some people longer than others to decide what they want to do.

Finally, starting college represents a lot of changes for most people, and change is never comfortable.  One thing you may learn is that uncomfortable is not always a bad thing.  People have to take risks in order to succeed.  No one ever was successful doing things the comfortable way.  So if you start college, there is an excellent chance that you will find a career, graduate, and get a good start on your life.  There is a small chance that you will fail and harm your self-esteem in the process.  That is a chance you need to take if you want to even have a chance at the good life.   It takes courage to take those chances, but the payoff is great.
