Also given how she was bought up, you have to feel for her. She had the race won. Then she started to sob in the back, almost made me cry too.

ALSO WHAT'S BMX RACING? How does that work?

  1. That's part and parcel of the sport.  Things like this happen to lots of people all the time.  It's not that I laugh at their mistakes but I just accept the reality of that's sport, bad luck, move on.

BMX racing is a new sport to this Olympics that they have a time trial to get rankings.  Then they compete in quarterfinals of 8 riders each getting points where they finish.  The scoring is 1-8 and the person with the lowest points win.  It is quite exciting to watch as it is speed but with obstacles.

  2. Is this a question?

  3. I can't believe they had to show it like 7 times  :(

Give her a break leave it be.

hey the woman who won gold on that race is from Eastern STL which is like 90 minutes from my house hey neighbor WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I felt extremely sorry for her.. she deserved that medal. And what was worse is that no one consoled her or anything. Her teammates left her in the dust (even after the competetion)

  5. OMG I cried for her... that is the worst feeling in the world.. knowing you are going to win an event and in a matter of seconds, it's over... and BXM is racing on bikes.. can't give you much info on that.. I'm a sprinter lol!

  6. She's hot. I feel bad for her too!

  7. Thats probably the first mistake she has had in five years...BMX is bikes on dirt tracks.

  8. It did make me cry :-(

My heart goes out to her.

  9. BMX stands for Bicycle Moto-Cross. Similar to dirt track motorcycle racing with hills and dips but only on heavy-duty, and often light-weight bicycle frames with special knobby tires for traction. First one across the finish line wins.

Lolo Jones is simply incredible, both on the track and off. Raised by a single mother and living with various friends and families, including in a church basement in her youth. She attended eight different schools in eight years as a result. Lolo excelled in the classroom as well as on the track. She never lost sight of her past or her dreams. She donated her $3,000 award from one race to her high school for track repairs and new hurdles. She later donated $4,000 to a local athlete whom recently lost nearly everything in the recent Iowa flood. Two of her sponsors matched her donation for a combined $12,000 gift. Her generosity goes much further.

She may have finished 7th in her last--and possibly final--Olympic race, but in life she earns the Gold Medal.

  10. yeah, poor lady, I felt bad for her :(

  11. In a post race interview on NBC, she put on a great sportsmanlike face, and gave a really good explanation of what happened.  My interpretation of what she said was that she was moving ahead and accelerating and the hurdles started coming "faster" and she couldn't stay "in sync" (my choice of words) and thus hit the hurdle.

She said she does something like that (in races) about twice a year, it was just horrible timing to do it during at the Olympics.

You gotta feel sorry for her, for sure.

  12. bmx is a type of bike. and yeah i felt bad for lolo. her name is also fierce.

  13. Yes, Lolo Jones was another Gail Devers. It was extremely devastating to have her medal chances blown away completely by that major mistake on the 9th hurdle in the 110m hurdle finals.

BMX is freestyle bicycle racing. It is like motocross racing in some way....big hills, big air (or jumps), and a dirt track all the way. Racers need to prepare to get dirty as they race for medals. BMX is making a debut in the Olympics.

  14. Ya, it was very upsetting.

  15. i feel so bad for her, she had it in the bag, i was rooting for her. but that one crucial mistake cost her the gold and actually none at all. ugggh, this sucks. she is a very down to earth person and gives some of her money to charities, she gave about 5,000 of her earnings to a woman who lost her home. i guess bad things do happen to good people. i hope she'll come back next year, eventhough some of the girls will be younger than her, i know she can still win this.
