The former Rossoneri defender has revealed that he and Nesta decided to leave San Siro despite being offered contracts, because they were convinced that the club did not need them anymore.

The Rossoneri defender was among the many veterans that chose to part company with the Diavolo, following the end of their last campaign in Serie A.
The Milan outfit have also sold http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 to Paris Saint-Germain, and are facing a dearth of talent in the squad for the upcoming season.
Gattuso stated that he had wanted to prolong his relationship with AC Milan, but that was when he realized that he was not part of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans for the future.
The former Rossoneri-man revealed that the manager asked him as to how he would feel about taking a role other than as a player at San Siro, and the veteran defender stated that it was the moment when he realized that he has outlived his welcome at the Milan
outfit.
The Sion player insisted that he is satisfied to have taken his leave from the Italian giants at the right moment, and stated that he left the club without any encumbrances to spoil the happy memories of his stay at the former Champions.
While talking to the press, the 34-year-old said:
“The club wanted to keep me, but Allegri didn’t want me anymore. When someone like a Coach makes you understand that he’d like you as a director or someone to help him in the changing room then it is time to go. Time to shake hands without feeling any resentment.
I’m a very proud person. If Nesta and I made this choice, then it’s because we felt that Allegri no longer wanted us.”
Gattuso went on to state that there has been no love lost between him and the Rossoneri jersey, but stated that he is happy at the choice he has made, and is enjoying the new challenges at the Swiss outfit.
“The Milan shirt was stitched to me but I’m happy with the choice that I made because here at Sion you really need to fight.” He added.
