  1. You are looking a minimum of 12 weeks

  2. When did you file those returns?  The IRS site won't have information on prior year's returns.  You'll have to call and ask.  However if you just recently filed them it may be a while.  Prior year returns can run 12 weeks or more to process; they don't carry a priority at the IRS and are processed as time and resources allow.

  3. It takes IRS up to 12 weeks to process prior tax returns, and you will not be able to find out about your refund on the website that is only for current tax returns.  Since you apparently had to file your tax returns because of a notice you received from the IRS contact the phone listed on the notice to find out the status of your returns, such as were they received and if so when? and then they will be able to give you an idea when to expect the refunds.

FYI: prior tax returns are manual input and the wage information reported on the returns must be verified, that is why it take so long to process the returns.

  4. The IRS web site only has information on the current (2007) refunds, and you'd need to have your tax information from 2006 to access them.

If you request a tax transcript, using form 4506-T, you should be able to get status within a week or two.  Because you don't have the previous year's tax information to identify yourself to the IRS, you may need to mail the form, unless the contact information from your 2004 return is still current.
