I am trying to get the Enc. Stimulus ck, the IRS hotline is ans. by computer. It said I would not rec. a ck. However, if I would have filed a 1040A I would have also listed my S.S. earnings and then would have qualified for this check. I spoke with the tax advocates and they said I couldn't file an ammended return and they could only refer me to the irs website. Thats no help as they do not tell you what to do if you filed the wrong form. I was told to just wait and see if the goverment makes changes to allow for peoples mistakes. This doesn't sound right to me. Your advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

  1. So what did the 1040EZ show?

If you sent in all zeros (which gets you nothing for the stimulus), do the following:

1040X, write "stimulus" across the top, name, address, sign, SKIP all numbered lines, go to page 2 and write: please calculate my stimulus, i had $xxxx of social security benefits.

Mail the 1040X--this particular error will be fixed and the $300 stimulus would be issued.

If you put the SS benefits in line 1, that's a different issue.
