  1. go to the dov and file for a duplicate

  2. you can go to your local dmv office and they can issue a replacement title

  3. Call the local DMV and get a replacement title.  If the bank doesn't hold the loan on the car, why would they have a title?

  4. Is it your car?  Go to the nearest DMV with the information, VIN and license number, and find out if the bank is listed as the legal owner.  Apply for a duplicate title if you can.  You may be in a state that only would send the duplicate to the bank if they are listed.  In that case, ask for a print out.

Go to the bank, show them they are listed, ask them to check their records.  If the loan was discharged they should give you a lien release.  Take that to the DMV and get a duplicate title.
