I spent 6 months in Fl and 6 months in Cali and when I filed my taxes I got 2 separate checks from both states. Has anyone "accidentally" got 2 stimulus rebates? That would be awesome LOL!

  1. The stimulus check comes from the federal government--not the state government so you will get only one check.

  2. The stimulus is federal, and has nothing to do with state taxes.

I'm impressed that you filed  a FL return and got a refund from them, since FL doesn't have a state tax.

If you filed two federal returns, don't spend those two refunds, since you are only allowed to file ONE and when they catch it they'll be demanding some of the money back.  And if that's what happened and you somehow get two stimulus checks, same thing, don't spend them both, they'll be looking for repayment.

If you filed two federal returns and they both went through, you must have put the wrong ss# on at least one of them.  They WILL catch this.  It could take a year or two - by then you'll owe more than you originally would have, for penalties and interest.

  3. Not unless you are two people.
