I'm in the Philippines and I sent my I-130 to California to process on September 4, 2007. I just received my WAC number on Feb 24, 2008. I will now send in my I-129F at the US Embassy in Manila, Philippines. How long would this process take till I am able to bring my wife to the states?

  1. you don't need to file I-129F just wait for I-130.

  2. You do not send the K-3 petition to the embassy in Manila. It is sent to the Service Center that has the I-130. If you're in the Philippines, why didn't you submit the I-130 to the embassy in Manila? Did they tell you that you're not eligible?

The K-3 petition processing has experienced some problems in the U.S. which have increased the wait. You might be better off sticking with consular processing, i.e., just have the I-130 sent from the U.S. to Manila.

An approved Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiance, is forwarded to the American consulate abroad where the alien wishes to apply for the K-3/K-4 visa.

The consulate must be in the country in which the marriage to the U.S. citizen took place if the United States has a consulate which issues immigrant visas in that country. If the marriage took place in the United States, the designated consulate is the one with jurisdiction over the current residence of the alien spouse.

  3. working on this for 17 months now.
