Below is a typical transmission curve of BK7 borosilicate glass.    That lists the transmissivity of a 1-cm thick plate of glass (the optical crown glass curve).  The curve is essentially flat through the visible so you can figure the transmissivity is 90% at the fundamental wavelength of a He-Ne laser (632 nm).  

    Given that

    log(0.90) = absorption coefficient * pathlength

    you can calculate the absorption coefficient from the transmissivity.
