I can't understand how to use punctuations correctly especially the hyphen(-), Dash(_), semicolon(;),colon(:) and comma(,). Please explain their use in easier words with some examples. I'll be very grateful to you....

  1. a hyphen is used to make a couple words into one word

    i.e. He is a very well-rounded person.

The symbol you put yer dash is an underscore ( _ ).  this is only used fer websites and emails.  i haven't seen it in a sentence or grammar before. sry!

the semicolon is to combine two sentences that are about the same topic, but are not combined by an "and", "or", "but", etc.

i.e. They couldn't make it to the summit and back before dark; they decided to camp for the night

    a colon introduces a list.

i.e. The following employees have won awards for their proposals: Mark Jordan, Cynthia Meyers, and Deborah Hollowell.

a comma seperates each item in a list or combines two sentences using a coordinating conjunction (and, but, etc).

i.e. They couldn't make it to the summit and back before dark, so they decided to camp for the night

i.e. For the trip, I brought my socks, shoes, and raincoat

i sure hope i helped you out somewhat! good luck!
