It responds slower than it usually does, especially in the morning.

  1. its most likely slower in the morning because its just starting up but you could also go to see if it has any viruses that attack especially in the morning.

  2. There could be a very simple answer to your question.  If your computer is just waking up there can be a few things that can slow it down.

If you are running Mac OS 10.5 the first thing is Time Machine.  If you have your Time Machine turned on the computer will start to back up the computer when it wakes from a long sleep.  This will bog down the hard drive and the overall response of the computer.  (Look for the arrow going around the clock in the menu bar's Time Machine icon) The second thing is Spotlight indexing.  The computer indexes your hard drive so the Spotlight search feature works (the magnifying glass in the upper-right corner).  Spotlight indexing is taxing on the computer.  (Look for a pulsing dot in the middle of the magnifying glass)  Also, if you have more than one hard drive installed or a CD or DVD in the drive it could be delay from the drives spinning up and accessing after a sleep period.

Any connections you had to external drives or other computers on the network can cause a slowdown when waking from sleep as the computer tries to check the network and reconnect with those drives or computers.  If you are connected to network drives, computers or printers and they are turned off/removed while the computer is asleep you may see an extended lag while the computer tries to access those devices.

Other than that, if the slowdown is internet related it could definitely be your computer syncing up with your router/modem and getting the signal hot again.

    Good luck!
