When I was around 10-12 years old I went to the pool to try to learn how to swim. I was about half way from drowning untill my brother had to save me (yah, those dumb life guards didn't do a thing and they were only 10 FEET AWAY from me). Anyway, I wanna go back to the pool (I'm 14 now) and I wanna learn how to swim again, but I thought I would be scared beacause I almost drowned. I'm like 5% scared and 95% determined to go back...Wouldn't you be scared to go back to the pool after that?

  1. I honestly don't know if I would be scared myself, since I've never been in that situation and have known how to swim since age 4 or 5.  You could take swimming lessons and swim in the shallow end, where you can stand whenever you feel the need.  No reason to be scared of drowning there.  Then, as you advance in your swimming skills, you can little by little move into the deeper areas.  Finally, you will be able to swim confidently in the deep end!  Try it...you can do it!  Don't be afraid.  Swimming is an important life skill.  Good luck! :)

  2. Ask the life guards to teach you.

Seriously, they know all about it.

  3. no, swimming is like the easiest thing i've ever done.

  4. No, but then again, I'm not 14.

  5. yes itsnormal to be scare, but dontlet it stop you. stick to the shallow end fora while and stay where you can touch the bottom.

  6. have someone with you standing by just in case

  7. Just go to the dam pool

  8. its ok to be scared because i had the same situation but as long as your confidant i think you should do it!!

  9. its ok to be scared, maybe some lessons would be in order?

  10. Yeah, that happened to me when I was about 13 too. Only the lifeguard did rescue me. And you know, it took me about 4 years to actually go into a deep end of a pool again, and I never went to the pool where it happened again. It's not weird. Just go with someone who you really trust and take little steps, don't try to do it all at once.

  11. i don't know.whatever you want to do.i learned to swim when i was 6

  12. when my sis first learned how to swim she was so scared when the lifeguard tried to put her in the water, she bit him. he dropped her in the water and she nearly drowned too. now shes a competitive swimmer, lifeguard, and swims on the top 2 swim team in CA!!

  13. Yes I would. But you really need to go back to the pool and try harder!

  14. I almost drowned when i was like 6. I thought i could swim like a "big girl", but when i took off the lifejacket i started bobing up and down. i was so scare i couldn't even scream.  My bff (at the time) mom had to help me. But i went back to swimming lessons within 2 days. So i guess the longer you wait the harder it will be so go swimming now. plz. I hate for you to be scare forever.

  15. that happened to me too! Although i was like 5 and the lifegaurds didnt see me and a complete stranger dove in and saved me! All i can say is he saved my life!!! And just like you i was scared to go in the water again until i was like 8. But then i realized the llonger i waited the more scared i was going to get, so eventually i got up the nerve to start in the 3 ft deep area and eventually worked my way deeper. Trust me once you get back in the water, you'll be glad you did! Good luck!!! =D

  16. Yes I'd probably be scared but you can't go through your whole life wondering what it would be like if you went back! Good luck.

  17. Probably yes but it will take time. Go for it :]

You'd get over it eventually and probably fall in love with swimming.
