  1. Yes its Halal. We always decorate our home and our children love it. We use stars, moons, food (of the ornamental glittering kind) birds and animals (sparkly too) we make the home have a different feel and atmosphere.  On Eid we have bowls of sweets and treats around the house and the children receive new clothes, money and some gifts. They love it.

  2. Astaqfirallah. What the??? Gelatin???

I always put up lights, but wait until Ramadan is over and decorate for Eid Al-Fitr. I usually start decorating and baking for Eid on the last day of Ramadan.

During Ramadan itself, it's not really meant to be festive. It is the holiest month in Islam, meant to be spent in prayer, reading Quran, remembering the poor, and turning to other spiritual matters.

But yeah, get those lights, or any others, and have a great Eid!

BTW, for Eid, I often use a crescent moon and stars theme.

Don't limit yourself to things that say "Eid" or "Ramadan" (good luck with that) - just choose your theme (in my case, the stars) and hunt out things that would fit it. Dollar stores, thrift stores, the various "marts," and local craft shows are good places to find stuff.

Also, as a teacher, I love getting out the construction paper, scissors, glue, stickers, glitter and stuff. We cut out stars and a crescent moon and put them in the window, and make signs saying "Eid Mubarak" and stuff like that decorated with star stickers.

  3. As long as it's not made with gelatin, it's halal.
