I forgot the name of the book; title, author and date...?

Its a book that I think was set in modern or close to our times. It's about a girl who loses her father or something? I can't remember the main premise but I knew she built a golem out of a rock! I think it was part of a series. I know I'm vague but if you can help me out, I'd appreciete it.

I don't know if this is right, I am almost sure it isn't right.  I am thinking maybe the Alchemist by Michael Scott, I know there is a young girl in it and golems.  But there is also a twin brother so I am not sure that this is the right book for you.
