I forgot to put in the house number in the address when sending a very important letter to my mother..?

If it has her name, the correct road and post code then the Post Office will find her.  It might take a few days longer than usual, but it will get there.

If you placed a return address on your envelope it will be returned to you shortly, unless the carrier knows your Mom then they would be kind enough to deliver it anyway.
