I forgot to take my zippo out of my pocket

Question

so i was washing my clothes and forgot to take my zippo lighter out of my pocket, now what can i do? will it work again?

Open the lighter, pull it out of the jacket or case, pull all the cotton out , being very careful, let it all dry, make sure the wick is dry too, after dry, put all the cotton back in, fill it up with lighter fluid again. It should work just fine then!! Good luck!

the above are right on but I would like to add...that if you used a water softener in the rinse cycle you may just want to rinse the cotton pad of the lighter out thoroughly and then let it air dry...(the softner is a wax and could affect the absorbancy of the lighter fluid when you go to refuel it.....

It should work fine.

Open it up and let it dry out thoroughly.

Straighten the wick.

Refill the fluid.

Then give it a try.

You may also have to replace the flint.
