  1. hi, well I can tell you this. 1997 was the last year they made them. A regular (GL) model had a 4 cylinder motor, were as the GT model has the 2.5L V6 and more sportier things too such as aluminium rims and power options. The cars were actually based on the Mazda MX-6 platform. And the engines and trans are Mazda also. It was going to be a replacement for the Mustang when they first brought it out, but that didn't go very well. Over all, very nice cars, but parts might be more because of imported drive train parts. Good luck!!

  2. Hey! drive the car if u like it buy it. I drove a 95 probe for 6 years n i never fix anything to it other than tires and breiks they runs good and in oklahoma before honda came out with their swaped engines cars probes were a terror for honda drivers lol and this guys are right gt is a V6 and reg. is 4 Cyl. de v6 have a dohc engine you,ll get more hp. its a funny to drive car..

By the way im sorry for all my typing mistakes lol...

  3. That seems like a really high price for an 11 year old car. Especially when you consider the fact that its a tiny commuter car.

  4. Prices for parts a really expensive, thats if they are still available. Most have them have been discontinued.

  5. i have made alot of money fixing these cars. For an 11 year old car it could be reliable depending on how well it was taken care of. The GT is almost all Mazda engineering and parts. This make it last quite a bit longer than cheap Ford stuff. When it breaks bring out the check book. For example an alternator is about $1000, a steering rack is $1800. These are common repairs for a Probe. You will not have to put a alternator in every 3000 miles but when it happens it will hurt.
