I found a Nickel with a cow on it. Is it counterfeit?

There were Buffalo nickels many years ago. Is it a cow or a Buffalo

You must mean Indian Head nickel, what is commonly called a Buffalo nickel even though it is actually a Bison. They were minted from 1913-1938, they are know for the date to wear off and the details of the indian and buffalo to wear  as well. If it is one of these then it is real but well worn. The key is to see if the words five cents or United States of America or parts of them are on the coin.
