I found a WMP folder that had a bunch of gibberish on it. Is this a sign of a virus?

When I was checking the C:/ drive, I saw a strange folder with a whole bunch of gibberish as the name. The name of the folder was "d1273ef4c5aca3e3c44f" and it sounds VERY suspicious. Do you think this is a sign of a virus? The stuff inside of the folder has some Windows Media Player stuff inside of it, but that's mainly it. Anybody know if there is anything I should be careful with.

  1. not a virus, its data from WMP, if you want you can delete it, i get that also on Office

  2. I don't know, but you should scan that with an antivirus or sumthing

  3. These folders with Random letters are created by windows media player. They are temporary folders where needed files are kept.

It may be some cached video files, or pictures or music.

It isnt virus or trojan at all.

  4. Not always, it could just be a corrupted file. Download AVG, it's free and if there's a virus it will find it. Costs nothing and AVG will find a ton of virus that Norton and McAffee miss.

  5. I doubt it's a virus, but I'm not very good with computer security. I remember having a file that was similar to that, but it was the setup of a game. If you know that stuff isn't vital to your computer, delete it, just to be on the safe side.

  6. No it just a temp folder (tmp or temp)  you can delete it.

    safe

  7. it is probably a folder created by Windows Update. don't touch it.

  8. a search of whois and other locations got me this response:The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression. suggest you run your anti virus and your anti spy ware
