  1. Take it out of the box and put it right back where you found it.

Touching it WILL NOT hurt a thing.  Birds have a very poor sense of smell.

  2. If you can, put it back in the nest - otherwise, just put it back to where you found it.  Remember - mother bird won't come back for it as long as someon'es watching.

Also, remember you can't care for a baby bird.  They need to eat as often as every 30 minutes!  If you ahve more questions contact the rescue people again.

You have to have a special rehab and wildlife permit to give care to wild animals in the US including birds.

  3. If you can put it back in the nest then that is the best thing for the baby.  If you cannot then you need to find a wildlife rehabber to take the baby.  Do not feed the baby worms, bread or milk.  They need to be fed a dog food based diet found at starling talk.  Do not use a syringe and never put liquid in a baby birds mouth, it can cause aspiration pneumonia which is fatal.  Starling talk has a message forum that can be of great help.

Please find the links in my profile as for some strange reason none of my messages that have a link will go through

  4. mumbles is correct(the birds sense of smell is not that great), normally when that happens it is just a part of nature. If the bird is young, then the mother was probably just trying to teach it to fly(by nudging it out of the nest).

Put it back as soon as you can, and let nature take it's course.

  5. leave it where it was or the mother bird won't come back

  6. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:

  7. Don't touch it.

Place it back where you found it and leave it be.

Not trying to be mean. or Rude..

But if the mother smells your scent on it's young..

    She will kill it.
