  2. Baby birds are very volnirable. If you can get the nest and fix it somewhat and place it in the same tree as high as it was or as high as you can and check to see if mom comes back. Stay int he house and dont go outside for a while. If no site of her in a coupke hrs, than get the babies.

Well first off you need to get them in a safe and quiet room.

Does it have feathers? ANy at all, does it stand? If its featherless and pink its a newborn, if it has feathers its a fledgling.

If its unable to sit on finger or stand well you need to keep them warm with a heatingpad(low not too hot) and get an old towel and shap it like a nest shape than ge a washcloth and spread it over the baby birds. This is only if they have no fathers.

You need to go to the petstore and get some formula. Formula for all birds. Get one cup and fill it with 1 cup of formula and one cup of warm water( The little cup that came with formula). Mix it well and use a syringe to feed it. Dont do too much at a time or it may regergitate. DONT give it water. It will choke. There is the right amount of water in the formula needed. Dont feed it worms. They have bacteria that could hurt them, only mom can break it down.

When they are fledgling which it has feathers and can hop around then they can eat watermelon pieces, mealworms(HEADS cut off or they will eat its insides), bananas pieces, veggies pieces, and seeds(wild bird seed). Unless it cant hopp or sit on your finger or have any feathers you can feed him formula and he other foods listed. If he is pecking at stuff when you hold it then he doesnt need syringe. Only a bird cup.

If its able to sit on your finger and hop on the ground It needs a cage, perches, and feed/ water cups. The cage can be for a cockatiel, thats a fine sixe for it. Cut up all the foods listed and place them in the food dich and sprinkle seeds on the bottom of the cage and mealworms(With heads cut off) on the bottom, it teaches them how to foriege. You can even add a mirror. It keeps them intertained. Make sure that you keep the cage cleam with newspaper on the botom. The bird will be more happier. Place the cage near a window to calm him down as well.

When he can fly you can release him outside. As long as he can fly. He may come to you for food though. You could even keep him if you would like but get a bigger cage for thim.

    Goodluck

  3. go to the pet store and by some bird seeds.

  4. regurgitated worms and bugs

  5. Go to the yard find some earth worms chew them up a little and spit them in the birds mouth.

  6. well try rice N go to a pet store buy him bird seeds

  7. Sorry to say this but it will eventually die. I've had alot of cases of these and I never succeed. It needs its mother.

  8. The mom didn't leave, she just went to find food. Does the baby have any feathers? If so, it is probably a fledgling. Mom will kick it out and continue to feed it while it is on the ground, however she has to leave to find food. This bird may be getting close to flying and he is more of a cluts than most. Get a hanging basket and hang it close to where you found the baby. IT is a myth that the mother will reget it if it has human smell on it. You probably won't beable to recreate the food mom feeds because obviously mom knows best. Watch from your window and I'm sure you will find the mom coming to feed the baby. However if you don't believe in trusting nature to take its course and you insist on butting in. Offer the bird some cooked and chilled oatmeal mixed with a fruit baby food. Also offer some chopped worms or crickets and see if baby will feed himself (if he is feeding himself this only supports my impression that he didn't need rescue). You can also buy seeds and put them in some water until they start to sprout and are soft and offer that to the bird. Unfortunately the more you do, the worse you could make it and the bird may not be able to adapt to the wild so remember less is more. Good luck.

  9. Try a very well mashed hard boiled egg, adding a little water so it is the same thickness as tomato soup.  Bend a teaspoons sides together and drip feed the bird.  After a couple of days try cat food, again watered down.  If the bird is feathered feed 3 times a day, if not then 4 times.

  10. I dislike telling you this but this bird has no chance whatsoever of surviving. My wife and I have raised baby animals from chipmunks to baby deer succesessfuly for many years and have yet to have succesessfuly raised a baby bird.I hope you do better than we have.Good luck!

  11. What kind of bird is it?

First off, do the following test. If the bird can perch, that is, sit on your finger or a twig/branch, he is not helpless and he is not abandoned, even if it seems that way. He needs to be back in the wild. Once birds can leave the nest, they do. Forget those cartoons where they stay till they can fly, that's the most common misconception of most nestbirds. As soon as they can walk around and perch, the parents remove them from the nest, so they can hide them in various places throughout the environment. Think about it, would you rather have your babies in one obvious spot where they can be found and all eaten, or strategically move them around to keep the predators guessing?

Secondly, it's very, very rare for a bird to survive, and I'm not trying to demean you, but in the hands of an amateur. Baby birds can't survive with a couple feedings a day of some mushed up insects or whatever else people on here will tell you. They need a proper diet, preferable from their parents, if not, from expensive formula supplemented with several different fresh things depending on the species, and this doesn't always work. Most babies need fed every half hour. For the entire daylight hours. That's right, and skipping a feed you are starving them. That's why the majority of rescues die: they starve. Another common mistake people make is to give them water, which they think they need to squirt down their throats. Which results in them drowning.

If your bird can PERCH, let him go. He will die without his parents. If he cannot: call your local vet, wildlife shelter, or anyone in the area with avian experience. Unless you have a controlled, warm environment for him to stay in, have the time to feed a strict diet to him every half hour, he is going to die. Please, please, if he's too small, leave him to proffesionals.

  12. dig up some worms, put then in your mouth till they get soft and feed it to it!

  13. Try worms when it is a baby.

  14. worms. put you'd have to mush them up.

  15. regurgitated worms!

  16. Call a vet and find out who is a wildlife rehabber in your area. They will take it and care for it until ready for release. This is free to you. Some vets will take also. It may be a fledgling if it is feathered. If that is the case and it can hop or flap wings then leave it where you found it as mom will come back and feed from time to time and lead to safety when needed. Baby birds spend first few days on ground before they learn to fly this is when most of them are kidnapped by well meaning people who think they are hurt or have been left by parents. If you want to feed before put out give it some handfeeding formula that you get at pet stores or some cut up mealworms at petstores. If in pinch can soak some cat or dog food in water and mush to applesauce texture and give that. Feed with syringe with needle off or end of popsicle stick. If the baby is not feathered than need to get it warmed up before anything else. make a nest out of bowl line with tissue and put nest with baby in a box then put heating pad on low underbox. Then once warm feed every 30 mins from sun up to sundown as birds do not eat at night. Best chance of this baby living is to put back where found it if meets criteria or send to wildlife rehabber or vet. Thanks for caring about the little critter. :)

  17. dried dog food soaked in water until its mushy but no cat food it has too much fat and worms like other people said but cut up

  18. Crackers. Break them up into tiny pieces and see if she will peck at it. Maybe. It's worth a shot. But I would suggest you call a vet and ask? Maybe they can give you a better suggestion.

I have a nest of my front porch and 5 little baby birds hatched..They are sooo cute, but I can't tell what the mom is feeding them. It's too fast..haha

    Anyway, Good Luck...

    Cindy

  19. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly. You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. Unless you sat around and watched continually for at LEAST an hour..you really have no clue as to if the parents are feeding it.  Most likely they are.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own. Look for a rehab here:

Do not attempt to feed this bird, you can easily kill it if you are not experienced..and not ALL birds eat worms..either get it back to it's parents or a rehab.
