  1. aw i found a baby robin the other week. i think it had a broken wing too. :(

birds are really good at faking when they are sick though, because they have to do that to keep predators away. so you don't know they're sick until they're literally dying.

i would call around and see if there are any nature centers or wild animal rehabilitators near you.

  2. Hi,

find some kind of box and put a nice clean blanket and shredded paper towels at the bottom of it.

Don't touch it... Put gloves on when carrying it or pick it up with a gardening shovel.

Get a dish about 1 inches deep and fill it with water.

Get another dish and give him 4-5 worms.

Try to find a cylinder shaped piece of wood about 4-5 inches high. Or find a rectangle piece of wood and prop it up against the side of the box.

You can make your own woodpecker food with a blend of sunflower kernels, peanuts, tree nuts, dried apple, and dried cherries.

Woodpeckers also like this from Petsmart (click the link in blue): http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

Take the bird to the vet ASAP. The vet will give it X-Rays, shots, etc.

Best of luck to you and the bird.

    P.S.

Try to keep it until the bird can fly properly.

  3. Just keep him in a good temperature (not too hot or cold) and comfy (maybe on some shredded newspaper or an old towel) and keep water and bird seed available for him. Not much else you can do. Once he seems a bit better take him in your yard and let him walk around a little. If he struggles with flying or can't fly at all, keep him a little longer.

  4. Are you sure this bird is injured?  There are lots of baby birds around now that are still learning how to fly.  If you are sure this is an injured bird...it needs to go to a local wildlife rehab:

If this appears to be a baby that has recently left it's nest and it is completely feathered, it is most likely being cared for by it's parents who are probably close by.  Leave the bird in a tree or scrub where it will be relatively safe from predators and the parents should continue to feed it.  You can watch from afar to check that they are. Do not attempt to treat this bird on your own..get it to an expert.  It is actually illegal for you to keep this bird in your possession, they are protected by law.
