  1. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:

  2. Call a veterinarian tomorrow or if PetSmart/Petco are still open (depending on where you live).  The staff at PetSmart/Petco should be able to give you some pointers on feeding your baby bird.  You will also need to get a cage and probably a warming light.

If  they aren't open, you can try giving the bird a chopped up worm or oatmeal.  Make sure you keep it in a warm place.  Then call the vet tomorrow.

    Good luck!

  3. honestly, it would require way to much work w/o incubators, specialized food, and proper nutrition.

the best thing for it would be to be taken to an emergency wildlife sanctuary.

i know it is incredibly difficult to give them up, b/c i know you think you can save it (which is a good thing! it shows that your a good person!) but you simply cant! for the birds sake!

  4. Call your nearest wildlife center near you. Also to keep him warm...warm up a wet rag in the microwave or sink and place in a ziplock bag and place under a blanket in his box. It is very IMPORTANT to keep his beek wet with water. Wet his beek with your fingers.

  5. Well this may be mean but dont even try if it is still really small. I have raised and nurtured back to health baby birds, and it is hard! you must feed constantally. Try dog or cat food soaked in water if you dont have that try EXTREMALLY small peices of lean meat, such as rabbit, and others. Also it would help if i knew if the bird was a fledgling or a nestling. Nestlings look pinkish with very small down feathers or naked. Fledglings Have some feathers and a short little tail.

If you Really want to take care of it but it in a cardboard box or plastic container with no lid on either. Line the box ar contaner with paper towls. Try to not handle the bird unless nesicary. You will know when it is hungry it will open its mouth and chirp. feed it small bits of meat or cat or dog food soaked in water. The cat or dog food is ALOT healthyer, only if you do not have cat or dog food is when you give it meat. You must feed the bird every 15-30 mins from dawn till dust then maybe once per night if hungry.

After raising the bird you now cannot let it go. You must keep it or sell it to petstore or another home. I hope this helped!!
