i live in an apartment, so it must have fallen from it's nest and landed on my car but it's not hurt or anything. The squab doesn't look sick and it's flapping, just can't fly yet. what should i feed it? i do not have the heart to just leave it where i found it because this place is crawling with cats, if you know what i mean. how about water? for now it's eating cooked rice, is that ok?...i'm planning to keep it till it grows perfectly and able to fly. help please, thank you.

  1. take it to a vet or nearby animal preserve or a zoo. Or if you MUST keep it feed him water and go to the pet store and ask questions there in the wild bird section. Ask the associate there questions and they will help a ton. Good luck

  2. If you're not sure as to how to feed it, then what makes you think it will grow "perfectly"???  As for caring for it, the best thing you can do is try to locate it's nest.  If it can't fly, chances are that the nest was right over his head.  If he's fully feathered, he's probably just learning to fly (and the mom was probably nearby and keeping an eye on him the whole time).  Lots of people make the mistake of thinking that little birds need help from people, but the reality is that they need to be left alone.  And since you say it doesn't seem injured, more the reason to find it's nest.  It's mother will do a much better job caring for it than you ever could.  Chances of survival in your care are close to none.  Please return the little one to his mommy!

If that can't be done, then call around to local veterinarians to find a wildlife rehabber that will take him in.

  3. take it to the nearest vet or spca, they'll take care of it.
