Question:

I found a baby red ear slider in my backyard I have a adult one already can I put the two in the same tank. ?

My adult turtle is a male @ 10 inches long the baby I found is @ 4 inches long. The baby is about 1/3 the size of the adult male however I do not know the s*x of the baby.

  1. No. The large turtle will kill the small turtle. I have known more than one person this has happened to. Also, the new turtle may spread disease to the big turtle, especially since it is a wild turtle. It's not a very good idea to be taking animals out of the wild, and may even be illegal depending on where you live. the best thing to do would be to let it go.


  2. YES...as long as they have plenty of room and fish to eat. I have 5 in all sizes and they get along fine. People will say no but pictures are priceless..

    Total Body length: 5-8" average, up to 12 inches max. Life span: 15-25+ years

    Males have the longer front nails and are used in mating. And are considered mature at about 5 yrs old. You can’t start sexing till about  3” across.


  3. The baby could have a diseas that can be passed to your older  turtle.  Also, it isn't good to keep a baby with an adult.  Keep the baby in a seperate tank until he/she is big enough.
