i bought a small peppermint plant 3 days ago. While i was cleaning off the floor of the plant i saw a baby snail and later found a baby slug. I bought the plant so i can add the leaves to tea. Is it safe to add the leaves? will i get sick? will the slug and snail leave anything bad on the leaves, dirt etc.

Oh by the way i'm 38 weeks pregnant.

  1. I have a peppermint plant too but haven't seen slugs or snails on mine.  But if I did, I'd remove them and send them elsewhere, as they are voracious eaters and could eat all the mint leaves if you let them.

You can still use the leaves but before you place them in your tea, wash them off with cold water so that you remove any residue from the snails/slugs and dirt.  For best results the mint should be dried beforehand although fresh leaves also leave a subtle taste.
