I found a black smooth rock?

but without a dent in it and without the white part on one side

You sir, have found the Obriqian rock. That rock is from the Kaba, in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. When people go on holy pilgrimage to the holy city, they steal the holy rocks and perhaps someone dropped it. Your description is not very useful as there are many rocks that are black and egg shape rocks are not uncommon on beaches and river banks.

....if it is vitreous or glassy in texture it could be a form of natural glass or obsidian.

....It doesn't sound like and egg as they tend to have tracks in them and are not always in perfect egg shape.

...does it show signs of knapping like a hand axe?

...if not it sounds like it could be a regular rock that has been smoothed by attrition and water action.

Maybe it's just a rock. If it does have a purpose I bet it is not of great use.
