There's a momma, she's a beauty, long hair, cream fur with black face and paws and huge blue eyes. She looks like a Siamese with long hair, himilian, she seems friendly and looks very healthy. Then there are three kittens, they look to be about 2mts. old. And I also seen another long hair Persian, could be a male, not sure. Over all they seem friendly and came right up to me.

My problem is that I cannot find anyone to help me to catch these cats. And if I do catch them and tame em, then what?

I already have 5 cats and cannot take in any more. I called all the shelters they say they are full.

They live in a high traffic area, but they are a little protected because there is a chain link fence around the property. So I thought maybe I could catch them, fix em, and put them back, maybe.

I don't know what to do, please help me to do something. Any suggestions!

  1. I don't see how the shelter could refuse taking the cats. In NC the shelter has to take in stray animals, even if they are full. Of course, more than likely they will be put to sleep which is very depressing. There are cat rescues all over the country, maybe these websites will help you.

  2. Be very careful when trying to catch feralcats, you never know what kinds of diseases or sickness they may carry that could be passed from you to your pets. Also, they can be very mean if they feel threatened.

Fixing them and putting them back isn't a good idea. While it would prevent more kittens, many cats get very lethargic and may lose interest in hunting or protecting their territory, leaving them open to harm.

I suggest researching any kind of humane society especially for cats in your area. While the shelters may be full, there are some private societies out there designed spacifically for cats. Also, print up some flyers to make your community aware of them. If/when you do catch them, take them straight into a vet to make sure they are even healthy enough for adoption. Some feline illnesses like Cat Leukima cant be identified by the naked eye. Also, I would like to mention that Himilians have a breed tendancy to contract urinary tract infections, many of which MUST be put on special diets or even medication.

As for catching them, try to be a slow moving as possible. Keep your voice soft and inviting and keep your body low to the ground to let them know you are no threat. Momma may be nice now, but if she feels you are a threat to her kittens, be careful. Before every attempting to catch them, have somepleace for them to go. Weither it be a humane society or a new home with someone else, make sure you wont be stuck with cats you cant afford to keep or dont have room for. The kittens should be easy enough to find homes for, just be sure they are completely weaned from Momma... If they are 2 months old and have all their teeth, they will be fine.

Good luck, I hate to see cats at rick of being hit by cars and homeless, it breaks my heart. If you need anymore help, let me know and I'll see what I can do!

  3. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED???

I am looking for another siamese.

They have traps you can use.  The vet or local Fish and game would have one... You can also rent them at a local FEED store sometimes.

I would have mom/ dad spayed / neutered and then take them in until you can find homes for them...

They might have a better life near YOUR HOUSE than where they are.

    good luck.

  4. I have loved and cared for many ferals plus three cats of my own(8 we just had kittens yesterday) I'm not sure what they call it where you live but here its called catch and release. The county your in should be able to help. Here they fix them and release them back and they do just fine. I catch mine with an animal carrier with some tuna. Or the shelter rents out traps. If you start to feed them its important that you continue. They will be counting on it. I buy  a 18 pound bag of food and feed them in the morning and evening. Might be $10 a month.  I have fixed three females and two males and they have been around for a few years. Good luck!

  5. If they are friendly then they aren't feral.. you can't approach, touch or usually even get near a feral cat. The only reason you catch neuter and release feral cats is because they cannot be pets, unless you spend alot of time taming them. The cats you are talking about are strays probably dropped off by someone. I'd suggest contacting a local rescue that will catch and care for these cats until they can be adopted. Since they aren't feral it would be best if they had a home..

  6. Some agencies will loan you a cat trap (yes it's humane) and all you do is put something very yummy smelling inside and cat goes to eat, trap shuts.  Then find low cost spay/neuter clinic or if you call local humane society they can give you name of some vets who offer these services to feral cat rescuers.  I caught a family of ferals, had them all fixed and vaccinated, some were friendly enough to be adopted out but the one who wasn't had her ear clipped so when released to the wild and if ever caught by animal control they would know she was spayed.   She lives w/ me still and lets me hold her even (after 2 years).  You can try to adopt them out through vets office, craigslist or local ads but most important trap and fix even if you do release.  Good luck!

  7. Take them in a get them cleaned up and well fed. Keep calling the agencies to see if they get openings. You can also call Petsmart and ask to speak with the people in charge of their adoption center. I used to work there and I know that they will try their  best to find people to take the cats in until they can place put up for adoption. You can also post fliers with your number so people can call if they want one. Anything is better then them starving for food and running through traffic.

  9. i would if i was u just catch them with food and milk and a cat box and take them home and look after them until u can get someone loving for them or infact if it was me wud keep them anyway if i cud :D neva have to many cats (yes u can but shhh not like 25 or owt silly in a small one bed flat).

  10. You need to find some sort of shelter who will take them in before they die. If you cannot find anywhere for them, then all you can do is to take the Momma cat food every day and keep an eye on them.

Good luck and I really hope you can find somewhere for them.

  11. Bring them to a vet to have him/her check them, then bring them to Lollipop Farm and turn them in with the doctor's review. Then the cats will be sold to a happy loving family =]

Hope I helped! And good luck with the cats!
