It's nest was blown from a tree and it's extremly windy and rainy out. Should I put it back outside or wait till the weather is better? And if I wait what should I feed it and how often.

Also I have no idea what kind of bird it is but its tail feathers are tipped with yellow/orange while the rest is gray and black.

  1. Put it back outside as close to the area of the nest as possible. Do it ASAP so the parent bird won't give up on it.

Try not to get your scent on it any more than you already have.

As a genereal rule it is best to leave wild creatures as they are.

  3. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If the nest has been blown down..you can make a nest using a basket or pail with a handle (add grasses and twigs for warmth) and tie it up as close as possible to the original nest locations..the parents will resume caring for it as long as they can hear it's begging calls.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:
