  1. It could be a calcite or feldspar.  It could also be rose quartz... not all quartz is see-through.  Some has imperfections that give it a frosted appearance.  Got a picture?

  2. You mean "translucent", although frosty makes your meaning clear.

It might be rose quartz. Your description fits that to a tee. Then again, I presume you found it in the open, so it may have been salt dropped off for a cow l**k. Salt seems to have a translucent pink glow when viewed against a light, too. If it is salt, you can taste it.

When you say pink, I am presuming again that you mean a pink as is used in making baby clothes for little girls. That is pink. Any other colour is not pink. you don't mean buff or tan or pale purple, do you?

Calcite can also occur as pale pink. If so, a drop of hydrochloric acid on its surface will cause fizzing. Ask your science teacher at school for a single drop to try. You will have to take your rock in. You will also see cleavage planes within the crystal if so. Cleavage is a tendency which some crystals have for splitting apart along perfectly flat fracture planes.

  3. Rose quartz maybe.

Edit: could it be a heavy hunk of colored glass that has been worn smooth with the time and elements? like sea glass? You can barely tell if it is natural or glass.
