I found a pet rat lost outside, is it safe to introduce it my other rats?

I found a friendly fancy rat lost and terrified outside, and I was wondering if it is safe to introduce her to my own fancy rats. I am concerned if she might have contracted any disease, or if she has been made pregnant by any wild rats. Is any of this likely?

  1. There is always a chance that any of the following things may be true. The only way to be 100% sure that all is okay would be to go to the vet and get it checked out. Good Luck

  2. you should probably want to get the rat checked out. you wouldn't want your other fancy rats infected.

  3. well if you found a PET rat outside you might want to put some fliers up and see if anyone clames it he probably belongs to a family but if nobody cames him in a week or two you can probably keep him but get him checked out first. in the mean time keep him in a separate cage.

  4. i agree with lilly s, you need to get it checked out to see if it has any diseases or whatever so it doesn spread to you own pet rats

  5. You'd have to bring it to a vet that specializes in rats to have it checked out first.

  6. Yeah go ahead an introduce the black plague into your household, no problem there.

  7. Honestly, If you want to keep the rat, I think you should get it a sperate cage for now. And if you have the money, take her to the vet and get her checked out before you put her in with the others.

    Hope I helped :)

  8. no i don't think so especially with rats they could bite you or something

  9. yes

  10. I would isolate it for a couple of weeks before introducing it to other domesticated rats just to see if it may have been contaminated by disease during it's wild foray.

  11. I say keep it in a different cage until you take it  to the vet, then they can decided.

  12. No the other rats will rape him.

  13. yeah the rat you found has aids and will give you a horrible disease.

  14. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  15. i advise you to take it to the vets, it needs to be checked out incase it brings any infections in and harms the other rats.

  16. it's probably not a good idea to introduce her to your own rats immediately. I would suggest putting her into a separate cage until you can take her to a vet and get her checked out.
