  1. the small red worms you are talking about are called"cyathastomes"other wise known as small strongyles and come from the pasture and is the reason you need to worm and rotate wormers often.they tend to be in the mouth of your horses when they graze in the pasture and when they get a drink of water they wash the ones that are in the mouth out into the water and they tend to breed in the muck in the bottom of the trough.clean out the trough and scrub it away from any feed or grazing so they will die then refill it with fresh water.

  2. Clean out your horse's water bucket really well and pay close attention to your horse's health in the coming days.  Hopefully it was just mosquito larvae.  Can you ask someone in your area if they've seen them before?

  3. In your horse's water...bucket? trough? Like a worm type leech? One you would find in a lake?

  4. Its probably just mosquito larvae. They're not dangerous but I'd get rid of them straight away any way as they are disgusting!

  5. What you have is masquito larvae. They lay their eggs near any source of water so they have plenty of it.I would take them out,if you dont want masquitos. They will not make your horse sick, but you should still take them out.

  6. was it In your horse's water bucket?

  7. Take it out it is probably a mosquito larave and clean the trough or bucket and put fly spary ( it works for mosquitos too)  on your horse and keep watching for them:) Good Luck
