I found a Sharks tooth on Cheseapeake Beach in Maryland. It is brown and has what seems kindof like serrated edges on both sides of the triangle. The top part that would have been in the mouth is a litle bit rough and the bottom part is smooth. How do I tell if this is real or if it just feel off someone's necklace?

  1. From your excellent description it sounds like a genuine shark tooth.

Why don't you drill a wee hole in it and put it on a necklace?

  2. Even if it did fall off someones necklace chances are high that it is still real.  The question is more is it a fossil or not.  Sharks have hundreds of teeth, are constantly dropping them and have lived on the earth for millions of years... when you do the math it is kinda easy to see why it is so easy to find them.  Heck I have jars full of real and fossil ones that have just been found laying on the beach and close to the shore.

  3. Pls try to find the "MADE IN CHINA" ...

  4. It definitely could have come from a shark that lost a tooth.  They lose tons of teeth all the time and maybe one washed up with something.  Awesome find!
