  1. There have been a handful cases of recluses being found outside of the natural range, usually attributed to being shipped in the mail accidentally.  These are not common and the spider won't do well in Colorado.  To tell you what it could be I would have to see a picture or at least get a good disc.

Also, how did you kill it?  If you send a specialist spider mush in an envelope, he won't be able to do anything with it.  You can probably call your state's Department of Agriculture and they should tell you who to send it to and how to send it to them.

  2. Was it brown with a violin shape on it's body? They are usually hidden in places where there is not to much going on. Like in garages (beneath boxes, etc.) or attics, etc. They are dangerous. My friend had an awful infection from a brown recluse, I heard some ppl could die from it's venom. You should post a pic of your spider up, because there are many brown spiders. So it would be hard to say if you found a brown recluse.

  3. whats a brown recluse? is it like poisonous?

  4. I'm not sure if they're found in your area, but they're here in KY.

    http://spiders.ucr.edu/recluseid.html check that site,it tells u how 2 identify 1.check and c if it has a dk.brown violin shape on its back,if it does,it prolly is 1 and u need 2 call an exterminator!they can b deadly.good luck.

  5. could be a wolf spider. those get big, brown, and look pretty similar. girl above me - yeah, only the most poisonous spider there is.

  7. Colorado is not known for Brown Recluses but anything is possible.  Florida is not known for Brown Recluses, but I was bit in April and spent a couple wks in the hospital and am still dealing with it.

Check out this site for pictures and a vidoe for verification:

  8. At this point, it doesn't matter what kind of spider it was.  It's dead now.

It's highly unlikely that it was a brown recluse.  There have never been any reported populations in the state of Colorado.
