  1. Hey here is a care sheet for you to help you with your new pet toad, and i'm not them people who say to let it go back in the wild because i would keep it myself.

    Anyway here is that sheet:

    The Toad:

    Main Category: Aquatic/Land

    Sub Category: Toads

    Care Sheet Submitted By: Anonymous

Years Experience: 3 to 5 Years

    Species: American Toad

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover: Southern Toad

    Sexing and Characteristics: N/A

    Mostly Active During: Night

Substrate and Water Needs: Water is a MUST for american toads. Without water they will dry out. (drying out is not good)

Lighting and UVB: American toads are one of the easiest creatures to care for. The dont really need any lightin. They spend most of the day underground trying to get away from the sun. they dont bask.

Temperatures and Humidity: Room temprature is fine for american toads. if you find the walls of glass container are fogging up it is TOO humid for your toad. Like I said they can dry up.

Heating and Equipment: American toads are amazing burrowers so they need a sandy floor to dig in. (Unfertilized soil works good too.) They need a water bowl that is big enough for them to sit in. and put some sort of hiding place in their cage.

Caging Provided: I have a 15 gallon fish tank. I also think those land/water cages are really cool. i think you can get them at reptarium.com or somethin, and your local pet store probly has them.

    Diet: Carnivorous

Description of Diet: The Basic insect diet. The eat pretty much anything that moves that they can fit into their mouths.

    Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

    Maintenance: Clean their droppings regularly.

Some Words on this Species: These toads are very easy to care for. THey spend most of the day underground, but come out at night to forage for food.

Hope this helped, and good luck.

  2. try going to a pet store for help. if i is just a typical wild toad, then it most likely needs a moist, cool, & dark/shady environment.

i used to catch toads as a kid, & they used to sleep inside these manhole-like things where these sprinkler controls were. it was dark, wet, & cool in there.

  3. Backwards.

Toads don't go far or fast, you could take some time and learn what you're doing and THEN go out and catch it and put it in a tank to stress it out and maybe kill it.

Oh, I know you'll probably give me a thumbs down for this, but still... easier than learning the hard way... oh yeah, it's just a toad, who cares if it dies because you have no idea what you're doing.

  4. well i want u 2 no that i'm answering this question only because i want u 2 no that it's cruel 2 keep it

  5. if its a normal toad, they i suggest it get a tank....the bigger the better :) get some mud ....rock....maybe sum plants, make sure it is damp, i don't see my not to keep one, obviously it be better if you didn't because it was in the wild and not captive...but it you do keep it, try feeding it bugs out the garden :) there are some ideas on it, you might wanna reserch it abit more

  6. "(i will do everything it takes to keep it healthy)"

If this is really true, then you should read some books on basic amphibian care.

You will seldom get accurate advice on yahoo answers (as several of the previous answers prove).

If you are unwilling to do this, then yes, you should release the toad.

  7. Good choice! The only bad thing though is it could be poisonous. It's poison glands are next to it's eyes so be careful of that. Here are some things you will need to shelter the toad.

    1. A simple Plastic Aquarium with a lid that has air holes (Medium Sized)

    2.A low small food dish

3.Some smooth gravel (Can be bought in stores) Make a small mound and spread out the rest.

4.Put 2-4 inches of water in the tank. (Let the water sit out for 24hrs. before you put it in with the toad.

5.A plastic hollow log. (For your frog to hide in.)

6.The classic crickets. (For feeding  of course.)

    7.Clean there "Presents" often.

    8. Always make sure there is water in the tank.

                Good Luck
