It's not that i don't want it, it's just that i can't take care of it. And i can't just leave it outside. It's pretty big, it's a box turtle [i think] obviously someone's pet. But idk who's it is; OR what to do with it. Should i call the SPCA? Or should i keep it...agghh...help?

  1. You should keep it for the time and put up signs that  say "FOUND BOX TURTLE - ACT QUICKLY IF YOU ARE THE OWNER"

Wait a week or so (or less if you just can't keep it for long).

You don't have to make a big deal out of it; don't get a big Petsmart pick-up truck to pick up a wild box turtle you found in your yard, it could just be a free little dude who wants to be out in the world.

So after waiting on those signs (nobody wants/owns it) just let it go if you ask me. But if you want it to be taken care of by others, just take it to the local pet store and let them tell the rest of it's story.

    Hope this helped!! :)

  2. Just put in back in a safe place near where you found it.

Box turtles are homing and will try to find its way home so dont move it to far away from where you found it.

If you are not used to keeping turtles, dont try with a wild adult box turtle. You could hurt more than help.

  3. How do you know it's obviously someone's pet? because it appears to be well-fed or because it's not native to your area? If it's simply because it appears well-fed, that's because wild turtles don't starve, they know where to find their food. I'd say if it's a species native to your area, it's most likely wild and should go back as close to where you found it as possible.

  4. U should just go put it by a pond of water and let it do its thing. I found a turtle last summer, except it was a baby snapping turtle, and i wanted to keep it but couldnt take care of it, so i did that and just a few mos ago some guy brought it into Petco and asked what kind he was lol it was kinda funny. but my point is he survived. I suggest trying to find its owner, if no luck them put him near some water, but make sure theres land as well, and let him go.
