i was over a friend house and i saw a cat chasing a baby bunny down and we chased the cat away and the bunny got away for the moment.

a little while later we saw the cat with it in its mouth.

it wasn't dead. it was like.. screaming

so we chased the cat away and it dropped the baby. i got the baby and fixed up all its cuts and gashes..

it wasnt terrible.

but the baby was scared. do you think it would be ok to nurse it back to health and release it when its better? i cant turn it loose now because its hurt pretty bad.

but im afraid that if it gets attatched to me, it could be bad. now, i do have room for it, but i dont condone keeping a wild animal caged.

since its a baby, it could learn to be indoors, but i dont have it in me to take away the wilderness from it.

and advice? please??

  1. My husband in high grass with the mower cut off the tail and skinned several inches off the rear of a baby bunny. His eyes are open and ears up so from what I read he is not nusing. We have treated the wound and it is healing. We did not want the open wound to be in the dirt because of infection. He is still very small and not sure where the mother or the nest  is?
My question is on realeasing him? The wound is healing and he is eating now. I do not want release too soon we handle him on minimually when cleaning the gage. But on his own should he be larger to survive. We have 60 acreas so not sure where the nest is? We also have coyotes, owls, etc.
    Please give some advice
