  1. That all depends on what mount the old lens has. I believe that was a generic after-market lens that was sold in versions with mounts for different brands.

If it has a Nikon mount, you may be able just to mount it to your camera. If it doesn't, you'll need to find an adapter (or perhaps a combination of adapters) that will work. This, of course, depends entirely on what sort of mount the lens has. A place to look for adapters is B&H Photo: www.bhphotovideo.com.

However you get it mounted, I believe it will be manual focus, and likely aperture will need to be set manually.

EDITED (in response to the edit in the question):

You would need an adapter then. Unfortunately, I think that's kind of a tough one to find. Okay ... further edit: I think that's kind of an impossible one to find.

  2. You Will Need An Adapter...

because nikon and canon don't use the same lens mount because they refuse to support each other, there's no shame in that at all. If your old camera was a nikon, it would still work on your present nikon, so since it's not, it won't..

    You'll need an adapter..

which i couldn't find for you on http://amazon.com by the way

  3. Hello OT.    Straight to the issue.....  Not possible to use that lens on your Nikon camera.   For one thing...  Canon mount lenses will not / cannot / mount to Nikon cameras and there is nothing you can do to make that happen.   What you can do, is try to sell your old Canon camera along with the lens to get money you need to buy a new lens for your Nikon D50.   Make it work the best way you can...  right?   Good luck... and have fun with your new Nikon...  you are very lucky.  :))

    Sincerely,

  4. if ur old camera was not digital then no....if it wasnt nikon, then no...........go to wolf camera and ask someone there.

  5. No adapter is necessary, assuming your old camera was a Nikon camera.  If it wasn't... then the lens won't work.  It really depends on what the mount the Quantaray lens was designed for since Quantary makes the same lenses for several different camera mounts.  Since you edited that it was a Canon camera, then I can definitely say it will not work.  You have three choices.  First, keep both cameras and all lenses.  Second, is to sell the Canon and it's lens.  You probably won't get much money from it though... especially the lens.  You'd almost have to give it away.  Third is to sell the Nikon gear and get one of the Canon Digital Rebels.
