  1. It would of course, have been helpful for you to add some details, IE" do you live Over a Body of salt water? Do you live in Louisiana in a flood plane? Has the toilet been sitting UNUSED for a long time? First of all it's not NORMAL for the toilet to back up,,,PERIOD. The vent opening equates to 4 inches, and is not filled with water. Second,,,the water that does fill the bowl, comes from the tank.

It's highly unlikely they are SHRIMP, certainly not in a toilet that's used often. That equates to the fact that WATER is only in the S trap, not entirely filling the sewage drain plumbing.

Did someone flush last nights dinner down the toilet?

While Mosquito or other larvae are a minute possibility, that would depend on the use of the toilet, and Mosquito's LAY eggs in standing water. Certainly too, in standing water there are other organisms that will LAY, and SWIM. Mosquito's are not strictly an aquatic species

I suspect a plumber MIGHT offer something, or an entomologist.

    Just my two "sense"

  2. The only way you could have shrimp (if that's what it is) after flushing is that you have shrimp in your toilet tank, that's where the flush water comes from. Check the tank, you have a prankster in your midst possibly.

  3. Do you live in an apartment building, these may have come up from someone that flushed them.

If you live near a water area, with a sump, there are questions about it. I am till trying to find out how my daughter got crawdads in her sump pit, she's about two hundred feet from a water source and quite deep. They come in occasionally.

  4. Shrimps (like crabs) are natural scavengers. They can survive on extreme environment. They feed on almost all organic materials so you will know that they are capable of living in your septic tank (ewwwww!). As for the question, "is it normal?", the normal thing is if they can be found on sewers and tanks. What is not normal, for me, is that they were able to climb onto the toilet and expose themselves (lolz)

  5. I find this not normal. Never heard of this before

  6. are they live shrimp or mosquito larvae?

  7. i would call in a professional and make sure they are not a harm to you, what country do you live in

  8. thats creepy! do u live close to the ocean? anyway best bet wuld probably be call a plumber because there has to be a problem with your pipes

  9. no

  10. Someone has been eating too much seafood.

  11. I know this is unhelpful but ILL!!!!

  12. I seriously doubt they are shrimp....lol Probably some kind of incest larvae like the other person said...But that IS a very weird place for them to appear..Pour some bleach in the toilet and let it set. That will kill whatever it is.
