I found on my door a long thin slug like looking thing with a flat head. anyone has an idea on what it is?

it was about 4 inches long and really thin. it didnt have any legs and it moved like a slug. left a trail like a slug too. its head was flat and i couldnt see any eyes. when we touched it, it shrunk up and made itself short and fat. it was on my outside door right after it rained. any ideas.
