  1. I agree with Leigh 28.  It has the birds info on it.  The band will not harm the bird.  Maybe you can run an add in the local paper under lost and found.  Someone is probably heartbroken their bird flew away.

  2. The band is what breeders put on the birds, you can tell how old they are and also where they where born and from what breeder they come from. I think there is a website where you can put the numbers in, but I can't remember at this time what it was. Both my birds are banned.

Please do not remove the band a birds leg can be broken.

  3. Hello.

The breeders ( like me ) always have the leg band ( you call ring ) in the bird's leg . It is for our ( breeders ) records to show which baby birds from which parents , and how many babies of that parents have had ( the leg band shows not only # , but it should have the location , and the colors of the leg band too ...for example ...my birds wear a leg band said ...Tm ( from me TM_aviary ) DE ( my state ) and the # ( I recorded the date , month and the year of the birds hatched in my book ... the color shows which parents that they are from ( like I have 9 pairs of cockateils so I oreders 9 colors rings , each pair has their own color to put on their babies ) Sometimes , the leg band has the year which show the year that the bird hatched ...So check on your website , you may locate the owner of that ring . Like the previous people who answered before me , please do not take the ring off ...it may hurt the bird and it is not right to take it off. TM.

  4. ring that you wear on you finger nothing a plastic ring bring it to a shelter or local zoo it may be someones

  5. it is a breeders tool that identifies the bird. sometimes it shows the birthday sometimes it is an id number. it means it belongs to someone... you should put a found ad in the paper. because parrots are expensive birds

  6. I dont think it means anything. When birds are born, they all have that ring on thief foot that is supposed to be put on their. It has a code on it as well. Go to your local vet or animal shelter to see if they have the code in their records.

  7. this probably means (if we're talking about the same kind of ring) that the  bird has been banded and belongs to somebody. it should have some numbers or letters on it. call an animal shelter and they'll tell you what to do.
