I found some cine films from 1964. How can I tell?

what projector to buy to run them on.? I see on ebay quoting 8mm and 16mm etc. Would love to find the answer and run them as they have been unseen for a long time.

  1. There are actually companies out there who can put the contents of the cine films onto DVD for you.  

    I would consider finding out about this...they must be quite fragile now.


  2. Take them to a Photo shop and have them put onto DVD

    It will be cheaper and less hassle than buying a projector.

  3. Yes, measure the width of the film to see if it is 8mm or 16mm.

    If the films are really from 1964, then they couldn't be Super 8mm, because that format was introduced in 1965!

  4. Super 8 came out a few years after 8, it's slightly wider and has a thinner sprocket strip.

  5. measure the width of the film - be careful though as there is 8 mm and super 8

  6. There are companies that will convert them to dvd for you...they will look exactly the same as if you were watching them on a projector....google "cine convert"
