I found some kind yellow/green goop inside the diagnostic connection of my 1992 Geo Prizm, is this normal?

  1. If it looks greasy, dont touch it it is there for corrosion control. If it is dry goop, then you have a problem. just get WD40 and spray it directly on the goop and it should dissolve it and then clean it up.


  2. It's probably dielectric grease. At one time, it was clear and keeping moisture out of the connection. Once the metal starts to corrode, it can get pretty nasty. It's entirely normal to see this on older cars, so don't worry. Just wipe it off with a Q-tip and put a little fresh grease in there.

  3. Sounds like die-electric grease and supposed to be there.

  4. Usually it's dry and clean in the diagnostic terminal.  It's hard to say what it might be.

  5. probably just corrosion this can be this color if its copper
