I found some ones social security card?

i found some ones social security card what should i do i want to return it but i dont know who or where the person is or lives and i dont want then to think i stole it or anything so what should i do

send it to the SSA--mail it, if you want with a note addressing what happened.

the NUMBER is more important than the card itself. So don't steal the guy's identity.

don't you know?  stick it in a US post Office box.  it'll be delivered to the local Social Security Office.  (what happens then is SSA destroys it.  the citizen that lost it applies for a new one).

my social security office is half a mile away, my police department is 1-1/2 miles away, a postage stamp is $0.42. any way you choose, you're doing the right thing.

I would bring it to your local police station and they will contact the person who lost it.   You are doing a very good deed.
